from: Mobile phone etiquette and you
When you go out from your home to the busy street, you will often find yourself in the midst of busy people who cannot do without their phones attached to their ears, be it while crossing the road, fitting garment at the mall, having their delicious meal, or even at the public rest room! Then this leaves you thinking if their calls are really that important to invade their private time.
The onset of mobile phones have made multi-tasking easier to cope up with the fast-paced environment we are in. However, it is somewhat unacceptable to the public, being able to hear somebody at the top of his voice having conversation using a mobile phone and much of it, hearing private conversations like recent break-ups, medical results, embarrassing moments and a lot of private messages.
Somehow, these people may have unintentionally or intentionally get caught up in the situation that they tend to forget they are in a public place and that every body are on ears listening to their conversations, whether on average volume or at volume where the nearest bakery store could hear how you failed an exam. Worst of these conversations is hearing adult contents where it may be difficult to explain if we have a child with us.
Question arises if we do find it necessary to answer these phone calls or make these calls that it can't wait while we are in the office or even after meals, or resting time so as to give ourselves the gift of privacy.
I guess with this growing trend of “ necessary” distractions, we may have a mandatory class for mobile phone etiquette before purchasing this gadget. A class that will teach common respect for everybody not only those who have these conversations but also those who don't want to hear these unnecessary distractions.
